When you think of Goa, you think of beaches, fun and frolic. The state is one of the top tourist destinations in the country, thanks to acres of beaches and coconut trees. Goa is known for cashew plantations and also mangoes.

 

The state was a Portuguese colony and was discovered by Vasco De Gama. In terms of GDP per capita the state is the richest in the country. The contribution of tourism to the state government coffers has also helped in the rapid development of the state of Goa. The capital of Goa is Panaji.

 

The state is also very rich in minerals, with significant amounts of iron ore being mined. Apart from that it is also known for quality bauxite deposits and manganese deposits. A lot of large industries including pharma, steel rolling and footwear are found. The climate of the state can be quite humid at times and hence the best time to visit would be the winter months from Nov to Feb.
