The Company was incorporated on the 28th day of October 1994 as S & Y Mills Limited with its registered office at Coimbatore and obtained the Certificate of Commencement of Business on the 9th day of November 1994 from the Registrar of Companies, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. Subsequently the registered office of the Company was shifted to No 129, Usman Road, T Nagar, Madras-600017 with effect from 01.01.1995 by a Special Resolution passed at the Extra-ordinary General Meeting held on 28.12.94. The Company changed the name as S & Y Mills Limited by the Registrar of Companies Certificate dated 16-06-95.

The Company has set up a unit to manufacture polyester blended suiting materials at an estimated project cost of Rs.593.42 lacs at the MMDA Industrial Complex in Maraimala Nagar, Tamilnadu.

1996-97:
During the year, the company opened a retail showroom at Marimalai Nagar as proposed. The company has also commenced the production of uniform materials for use of industrial & educational institutions. The uniform material has been well received by the market.

2007
-Company name has been changed from S&Y Mills Ltd to Pittsburgh Iron & Steels Ltd.
