Mesco Pharmaceuticals Limited (MPL) is an existing, profit making, dividend paying company incorporated on August 12, 1986. MPL obtained the certificate for commencement of business on October 3, 1986. The Company started setting up manufacturing facilities in Srinagar but, in view of the deteriorating law and order situation, the location was shifted to Uttar Pradesh. The company's registered office was shifted from the State of Jammu and Kashmir to Uttar Pradesh pursuant to Order dated June 1, 1992 issued by the Company Law Board, Northern Region Branch, New Delhi.

The company commenced commercial operations in June 1991 by venturing into seed marketing of bulk drugs and formulations with the objective of later establishing facilities for manufacture of its own Bulk Drugs and Formulations. The company has since been regularly exporting to various countries.

The company had set up a project at Mohabewala Industrial Area, State Bank Road, Dehradun, Uttar Pradesh for manufacture of 1,53,00,000 nos. of Formulations with provision for manufacture of injectibles, syrups, ointments and tablets/capsules. The unit went into commercial production in January 1994 (3 months ahead of the scheduled time). The company's products, especially Hepa Merz, have been well received in the domestic and international market.

In addition, the company is already engaged in Seed Marketing of bulk drugs including items intended to be manufactured at Hapur.
