Kareem Spun Silk Limited (KSSL) is being promoted by Kareems Silk International Limited (KSIL) and the Promoters of KSIL with over 40 years of expertise in Silk and Silk-related products, Mr. Abdul Samad, established Kareem Cascami Limited in 1979 as a joint venture with Cascami - 1872 of Italy. When the collaboration ended in 1985, the name was changed to Kareems Silk International Limited. KSIL is a 100% Export Oriented Unit for manufucture of Silk Tops and Noils, situated at Nanjangud in Karnataka.

KSIL has a good track record of performance, profitability and dividend. Its entire productin of silk tops/noils are being exported. The net profits for the last three years, has been Rs.67 lacs, Rs.49 lacs and Rs.91 lacs with an average earning of Rs.6.50 per share, KSIL has been exporting to Europe, Japan, Korea etc,; and its product has a reputation for quality in the international market and considered equivalent to that of China, as testified by the International Silk Testing Laboratory, Zurich and is known for its reliability in suppliers.

The Company was incorporated on 28.06.1990. At the time of Incorporation, the name of the Company was Kareems Siber & Prini Silk Limited. The name of the Company was subsequently changed to Kareems Spun Silk Limited and the change in the name was approved and incorporated on 5.5.91. The Certificate of commencement of business was obtained on 25.5.91. The Company is putting up a 100% Export Oriented Unit at Devanahalli near Bangalore for manufacture of Spun Silk Yarn.

Main Objects of the Company:
1. To carry on the business of manufacturers, processors, producers, buyers, sellers, importers, exporters of or otherwise deales in silk yarn, fabrics, garments and ware and all kinds and description.
2. To carry on the business of manufacturers, processors, products, buyers, sellers, importers of or otherwise dealers in silk, silk wastes, silk tops, noils and all kinds of processed silk.
3. To spin, weave, make, produce, process, manufacture, dye, print, tuft and finish all kinds of fibers yarn and fabrics, made from silk, cotton, wool or any other natural synthetics or manmade fibers and the products and by-products thereof.

1996-97:
During the year, the company was permitted to convert into the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme under zero duty regime whereby the company could cater to the local market in addition to export markets. Thus, the company is poised to enter into the scheme & broaden the market share.
