| The Company manufactures Cement, Sugar and industrial gases. It was incorporated in 1948 at Bombay. The Company entered into a technical agreement with Blue Circle Industries plc., U.K. for comprehensive updating and operational improvement of the cement plant effective from 1st July, 1985. In order to diversify into the field of electronics, the company entered into a joint sector agreement with Rajasthan State Industrial Investment Corporation Ltd. (RIICO) to participate in Rajasthan Communications Ltd., a company licensed to manufacture HF/VHC/UHF radio communication equipments, paging system and Rural Automatic Exchange (RAX). Girnar Prathisthan Ltd. (GPL) was amalgamated with BagalKot Udyog Ltd. (BUL) with effect from 1st July, 1986. Pursuant to the scheme of Amalgamation, the equity shareholders of GPL were allotted 227000 equity shares of Rs 10 each of BUL without Payment in cash in the ratio of one equity share of BUL for every two equity shares held in GPL. Reliance Steels Ltd and Anand Holdings Ltd., are wholly owned subsidiaries of the company. Nandit Investment Co.Ltd., and Sanatan Investment Co.Ltd. which were subsidiaries of GPL became subsidiaries of the company following the amalgamation of GPL with the company. In 1970-71, the name of the company was changed from Ragalkot Cement Co.Ltd., to Bagalkot Udyog Ltd.
